$MEME is a token on the Stacks chain. In order to fully utilize its staking, vesting and other functions, you must first purchase it from a DEX. As of this date you can purchase $MEME only via Velar.

Once you hold $MEME head over to app.memecoinstx.com and login with your Leather or Xverse wallet in order to start earning $SALT. No wallet transactions are necessary.

Everything is automated and you don't need to 'lock' your $MEME in order to get $SALT rewards. The amount of $SALT you earn depends on a variety of factors, explained in more detail in the Current Mechanism section of this Whitepaper.
